I've wasted A LOT of time researching reviews and such on the HP TX1000z, and I've went to the website directly and customized a machine that would fit me... but there are a few things that are holding me back. First, I prefer an Intel Core Duo rather than AMD, but that's not an option. Second, I'm worried about the screen glare, especially in bright areas. I've read quite a few reviews saying that the the screen is very hard to read things off from. Also, I've read that this tablet gets very HOT and the fan is loud, but yet it's rated as the best tablet pc of 2007. So far, here are the specs and price straight from HP:

– Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
– AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-66 (2.3 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )
– 12.1" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display(1280 x 800) with Integrated Touch-screen
– 75% OFF Upgrade to 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)!!

(Keep reading, I'm running out of room)
– NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 6150
– HP Imprint Finish + Webcam + Microphone
– 802.11b/g WLAN
– FREE Upgrade to 160GB 5400RPM from 120GB 5400RPM!!
– SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
– No TV Tuner w/remote control
– 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
– Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
– HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
-1-year HP Accidental Damage Protection with Pick Up and Return Extended Service Plan for HP Pavilion and Presario Notebook PCs

Total Price = $1355.48 (tax included)

Sooo... what are your thoughts on this? Is this is a decent price? Should I upgrade even more to possibly a larger harddrive or more memory, or does this machine seem sufficient? Are there any other tablets out there that would be better for about the same price?

Sorry for all the questions. Even if you can answer a few, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!
Ok.. why I need a tablet? I'm a college student who despises taking paper notes, and I also have an extremely hard time organizing all the mess of notes I create... so, a tablet in addition to Microsoft OneNote seems QUITE appealing. I actually took an Input Technology class last semester and learned quite a bit about tablets -- in addition to them being pretty darn cool, I think it'll be a great tool for college. I also do quite a lot with Photoshop, and I like the fact that you can edit with the stylus. It seems that it would be a lot easier to cut around pictures with a stylus than trying to do it with a mouse, but I could be wrong.
