I have just bought a Acer C100 tablet pc. Its a small size and basically, I wanted it to put into my car to use as a GPS (Because its touch screen) and to use in my home in the bedroom, because its lightweight and has wifi and basically everything I need as a second computer.
My problem is this.
I have upgraded it to a 120gig HDD, as I will be storing a lot of media on it. Because it is a new HDD, it has no operating system on it. I have ordered a copy of Windows XP Tablet through Microsoft fulfilment services, but this is where the problem starts.
I have no CD rom, so I'll be unable to install Windows on the machine.
So, I'm wondering the following.
1. Can I remove the HDD, put it into a USB case and connect it to my other computer, and install Windows XP onto the HDD that way?
2. Can I copy Windows XP onto flash disk, plug the flash disk into the laptop and install Windows onto the computer that way?
3. Can I buy a external USB or PCMCIA case, put a dvd rom into that and plug it into the laptop and install Windows that way?
I'm not sure if any of those ways will work. I have heard that I need to have a genuine Acer CD drive combo. This makes sense to me, because I have a HP notebook and I had to buy a genuine HP DVD drive for it.
So, if that is the case, can anyone advise me of a part number, or a name of the item I need to buy?
