A Tablet Pc or a Laptop?

I was planning on buying the new hp touch screen tablet pc. I am living in Canada and it costs $1199.99 at future shop (its basically best buy)
i mean i don't really have the money to buy it, but if it's going to help me in cegep better than cheaper laptops than I will find the money to purchase it.

I want to be able to download music, play games, watch online movies, dvds and most importantly i need a laptop that can replace a desktop computer. Is this Tablet worth it's money or should i just end up buying a regular laptop from future shop such as hp or a toshiba Satellite.
