Custom Device? (Such as Tablet PC)?

I have asked a question about making a tablet PC to manufacture. I have decided to be more general. How do I just get a custom motherboard, screen, touch overlay, etc. to make a tablet PC? Where can I get these components designed custom and manufactured for me? How expensive would a prototype be? Thanks.
