can I work with Windows operating system on a tablet pc while it is on the tablet mode ?

I mean , is the convenience of tablet mode for using windows too or no, just for writing with the digitizer pen provided ?I want to do everything with a tablet pc just when it is on the tablet mode . is it possible ?
