What am I looking for: a netbook or tablet pc or something else?

What should I get in terms of hardware & should I get it now?

I need something I can have in bed with me that is small with a decent screen size (so it doesn't hurt eyes too much).

I'd like to go on the net mainly. I wouldn't mind if the computer had something other than Windows on it.
